I See Some Perspective Members Out There!!

Dear English 1050 Perspective Members, 


First and foremost, welcome to this class! In class you have many assignments that gives you a chance to be creative! If you are not creative you will not succeed in this class! You are graded on creativity and uniqueness! Someone of you might this this is a strictly writing papers type of class! That is not the case! in this class, every project entitles you to have a different genre. Genre meaning do each project in a different format, whether poem, song, paper, use your imagination! The hardest projects I came in counter with were.. Wait, none of them were that hard! Did I ace every project because they were not hard?? No. Like I said before, the more creative you are, and the more you do, the better your grade will be. Some advice to help you succeed in this class:


1. Come to class everyday! Everyday you miss is minus 15 points. You have three absences you are allowed to have, so freebies. If you have perfect attendance then it is plus 45 points. So yes extra credit!


2. Do every extra credit opportunity there is to offer! There are no tests, so your grade comes from all of your blogs and projects!


3. Do a blog post for every class, the more blog post you have the more points you will receive!


4. When completing projects, make sure you turn in all ideas, rough drafts, outlines, EVERYTHING that helped you finish your project!


5. You are granted one do over project! Basically this means, if you didn't do go on a project, with the comments provided, re-do the project! It will replace the old project with the better grade!


6. Have fun, this is not your typical English class! There is so much room to be creative. You are given guidelines on a project, and from there it is all you!

"She was relatively certain she wouldn't make it very far as a Care Bear"

Once upon a fairytale there was a girl name Sue. Sue always was the nice one, the one everyone went to for smiles and giggles. Sue was an accountant at MJG Enterprise. MJG Enterprise was a competitive industry! One day Sue was offered at executive position, but so was three other people. Everyone called Sue the "Care Bear" at work. Sue never liked competing for anything because she knew she would win, and because she was so nice she always let the opponent win. Sue has been with MJG Enterprise for 15 years. It makes you wonder, why is she only an accountant?? Sue has been offered multiple positions to lead the company, but she always turned them down because she didn't want anyone to be mad at her. 

One day Sue woke up from a dream that snapped her into reality and decided that she wanted to be higher in the company and she wanted to compete for this position she was offered. Sue knew that being a "Care Bear" to everyone would not get her far! She also knew that she could be nice and still get what she wanted. Sue went tot work, told her boss she was still interested in the position, and begin stating why. Her boss was so shocked, not because she was interested in the position but because she actually stated that she was interested! She has never declared her want for positions she was offered, but the still offered it to her because they knew she was qualified.

Sue begin competing for the executive position, and she won! Everyone was happy for her, not because she got the position but because they knew she deserved it. Sue was relatively certain she wouldn't make it very far as a Care Bear, but she would make it farther as someone who went after what they wanted!

OH FRAPPUCCINO!!

I love you oh so much. I do not know if I love your Mocha color, or your smooth taste. You are like sunshine to my taste buds. I crave for your taste after the last sip in taken! I stare at you when you are full, half-full, and empty. I drop tears as I have to throw you away, and prepare for the next bottle. No Starbucks Frappuccino will ever compare to you! You are better than the last bottle, and will be better than the next bottle. I know some people might tell you I say this to all of the bottles, but it is okay. iI have said it to a Frappucino who I thought had my heart, but when I drank it all, it broke my heart. You on the other hand, I know I will still love you until the last drop! Remember all good things have to come to an end sometimes. I love you and always will.

Completed Argumentative Project

For some reason I had a very hard to me deciding what I wanted to argue. I started with the fun topic of why you should be as cool as Lauren, then  decided to do tattoos, then I decided to do why parents sold take equal responsibility when caring for a child! This was very hard! The hardest pat was finding a good topic to discuss. After I decided on a topic, I kept running into obstacles. I did not know what genre to do! Some i came to the conclusion that I would do a funny, keep it real, news article. I hope my argumentative topic came through brilliantly in this project, but then again I don't know. I am not to confident bout it. I hope I did well. The next obstacle to tackle... the Adaption Project.

ADAPT THIS, ADAPT THAT

I decided to do my adaption paper on changing a romantic sex story into a comic book or children's book. Some problems I think I will face is knowing how to do, what parts to include, and what parts not to include. It will be hard changing a sex book into a children's book. it is VERY inappropriate, but I am willing to do it! I am excited to do this dark fantasy project. It is very twisted humor, hopefully no one takes it offensive, or let their kids read it....... lol...... I really hope not, because they would have a rude awakening. I am speaking of this like my adaption paper will become a huge book, and I will become famous from it. I am just dreaming. I really hope that this project I am trying to adapt, comes out better than expected. I think I will do exceptionally well though. We will see how it goes.. Wish me luck. If you see my adaption on the shelves, DO NOT LET YOUR children read it, you will be in for a suprising suprise, lol. Wish me luck!!!

Conference Time!

I think my conference went fairly well. i got a better understanding on what I should do for my Argumentative project and my Adaption project. i was very confused, maybe because I am such a last minute person, but I was confused on what I should do, how I should do it. He gave me what I needed to solve my confusion, so to say! I also got some insight on my research paper. I am allowed to do one paper over, and that might be a good project to do over. only thing is, is that I would have to go back and look up my research, which I think is doing entirely too much! I still haven't started my Argumentative project yet, but it will be done, I don't know why I am procrastinating! For the Adaption project I don't know what I am going to adapt. Oh geez, I am a lost soul with these projects! I am working on it though!

2. Precios the novel was very graphic. I like how the gave us everything we needed to know to understand what was going on. I did not like how the mother was so disrespectful, and made Precious (the daughter) perform some sexual acts to her. The book itself was good, but some stuff was sickening.

3. Some things I like the most was Precious getting out her mother's house, and becoming and doing what she wanted to. I don't like how her mother made her do things that does not seem realistic, but are!                                                      

SPRING BREAK!

My spring break was surprisingly amazingggggggggg!! i thought that it would be kind of whack because my boyfriend had to stay hear to handle some business, but boy was I wrong! Over spring break, I spent a lot of time with my family and friends. Everyday I had a plan to do something, and everyday my plans followed through. Sometimes they would fail, but then they would end up following through anyways! I went to the mall, bought a few things. i went out to eat, ate some great food. I went grocery shopping, which is always a plus! My dad took my sister and I, on a father daughter date, IT WAS GREAT! I also liked how my mom took off a few days, just to spend time with my sister and I, it was sooooooo fun over spring break. Despite my amazing time there, I missed my boyfriend soo much. But it is okay! I am reeady to stop doing school work, enjoy my summer, and work. Usually after breaks, I am so anti-going back home. But this time, I am ready to go back and enjoy my summer and make some money! I missed Western over break. But not that I am back, waking up early, and doing school work, I am ready to get out of school for the summer!!

Argumentative, Counterargument Essay

I am not really sure what I am writing my argumentative project about, but for the purpose of this blog.. I will oppose why you should not be as cool as me.

You should be as cool as I because it will make your life that much better. When you are as cool as Lauren, you see life in such a different view. You walk a little better, you talk a little better, you see a little better, you are just cool. One thing about being as cool as Lauren is that you are able to say just that. "I am as cool as Lauren, yes I." 

When one is as cool as Lauren, you would walk as if the room will stop speaking when you walk in the room. You walk stuck up, but with the mentality that you are above no one. It a sense you walk as you are better but not as in anyone is less than you. When you talk like Lauren, you should speak as if when you open your mouth, everyone stops and listens. Do not mistaken though, being cool like Lauren is not saying or speaking as if you are God. Because YOU ARE NO WHERE CLOSE, GET THAT OUT OF YOUR HEAD. When you are cool as Lauren, you see life in a brighter way. You should have good spirits, and do not let anyone get you down. When you are feeling down, just think I am as cool as Lauren, being down and let people see you down is not an option.

Being as cool as Lauren is a noun, more so a mentality! So, when someone says how are you feeling today, just say "I am jazzy, I am cool as Lauren." Being as cool as Lauren, can also be a noun! When someone ask what are you going to do today? Just respond "Being as cool as Lauren", it basically would mean you are chilling, taking life one day at a time, living your life like it is golden!

I am asking you to P L E A S E write my research paper. I have the books in my dorm, all you have to do is walk to my dorm and pick them up. I will also ask of you to read the books, to get good quotes for this paper! I WILL NOT EXCEPT ANYTHING LESS THAN AN "A"! I need you to do this for me because during the time I "should" be writing my research paper, I will be fighting a subway and drinking a Strawberry Banana smoothie addiction. I will be in rehab for 6 days, and my paper in due in 6 days. While in rehab I will be constantly calling your phone to make sure you are on task! I also have a disease in my fingers called "Lazyotus" which means after 50 words my hands go disabled! You don't want me to fail my research paper right? PLEASE do this for me. I understand your concerns and that is a very serious reason why you are going to rehab. I have my addictions as well but I will be unable to write your paper. Those reasons are because I will be going to Florida in 3 days and I will not be in class to turn in your paper for you. Also I have to finish my paper as well. I need to get an A on my paper also. I am willing to help you write it before you leave or when you get back if you get an extension from the teacher. But I would like to have a enjoyable and relaxing time on the beach while you are in rehab probably resting as well. But I can help you with writing it since you have your disease. I have no problem with that!

Logan's RoadHouse Review

This restaurant is a steak house unlike others. This service is wonderful and the food is delicious. You are seated as soon as you walk-in basically. Your food is received within 20 minutes of your order being taken. If you like Roadhouse's this is the place for you. If you do not like messy places, this is NOT the place for you. Logan's is a messy place, not because the don't clean it up, it's because they choose not to clean it up. When you walk in, you will notice that there are peanuts, and peanut cases all over the floor. That's a part of there restaurant though. You eat the peanuts, and they allow you to throw them on the floor. The floor is messy because it is filled with peanut casings, but it not to the points where you feel dirty in that presences. The restaurant is okay messy, if that makes sense. Logan's have the best rolls and salads while you await the delicious food they will bring to your table. When you are in the restaurant, the setting is kind of old country ranch style, but updates with technology. On one's birthday, instead of the normal "Happy Birthday Song", they put you on a chair in the middle of the restaurant and have everyone yell "YEEEEEEHAAAAAAAA" like a hill billy. Are we in the country or what? It's welcoming though. When you are on top of that chair, you look around to see who doesn't yell the saying, why one does that? I HAVE NO IDEA!

02/16/2012 Argumentative Project Questions

1.  Woman, Girlfriend, African American
2.  List of issues that affect me are always having to prove that I am not the standard African American thus always having to talk intelligently. As a woman, I always have to be perceived as ladylike, and when that perception is misconceived it it said that I am no longer a woman but a girl!! as a girlfriend, I am always trying to prove myself as faithful, loyal, and trustworthy, those are things that just doesn't get proven easily.
3. If I was given a million dollars, I would pay off my school, my mom's house, her schooling, by a new car, lease a condo, and share some with charity.
4. I would approach Bill Gates or Donald Trump to receive the things I want without the money!
5. I have to many pet peeves to just say what is my biggest pet peeve. Some of my pet peeves are when people tap things, shake their leg, continuously pop gum, shake their leg, stand over me, stand while we are having a conversation and I am sitting down, staring at me even when I realize you are staring at me. A solution that can solve these pet peeves, is.... THERE ISN'T ONE. Just don't do it to get on my nerves!

02/14/2012 HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, I AM A NEWSCASTER FOR 60 SECONDS!

This article of Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp was a person who lived two lives. He was a a regular human and a celebrity. Once you are a celebrity are you ever really a regular Human again? I don't think you are. Johnny Depp became the role of Jack Sparrow by a major coincidence. He took his kids to Disney World and was playing with swords. Thus, he was casted as the role of Jack Sparrow!

He often battles with the two role life. One minute he doesn't like the celebrity life, the next minute he has became immune to it. Johnny Deep speaks about how having his children helped him feel more normal in life. He was finally able to love someone unconditional and not have to worry about betrayal. He was able to do the normal stuff, watch his kids play on the trampoline, the normal. Overall, his story is quite interesting!

They Be like Smoove. What? Can you Teach Me How To Dougie? (Instructional on How To Dougie)

In this blog post, you will be taught how to Dougie! You will taken through each move step by step. This dance is not easy! If you don't have any rhythm, this may be the hardest thing you ever had to do. Let's begin.

1. Put on a groovy tune PREFERABLY "Teach Me How To Dougie", so one can get their Dougie on!

2. Sway to one side, and pause for a beat while putting weight on the foot on the side leaning (don't do anything with your arms yet, just to keep the step simpler). Go to the beat, or double-time every third beat... put own rhythm into it so it feels comfortable.


3. Bring arms towards up in a fist, in a counter-clockwise circle motion, until arms are bent with elbows facing down and fist up by the head. Do this move with the sway of the same side, and then again with the opposite arm.


4. Punch down by the hip with the arm of the opposite side (right hip, left arm). - this move is called the Cat-Daddy


5. With both arms, make forward circles to the sides (like one is pushing in a wheelchair). At the same time, start crouching lower with each rotation, either with knees going forward or to the sides (like the chicken-wing move with your legs!) - this move is referred to as the wheel-chair


6. Be loose with ones knees, don't be stiff.

Personal Narrative!

This Personal Narrative Assignment was actually very hard for me. I did not know exactly how to put my story into words and into a specific Genre. The hardest part was choosing the Genre. I starting with a Children's book on my Love History. I wrote the story which was 55 pages, all I had to do was draw out the pictures. I started to make the story creative then decided that I did not want to draw pictures and color anymore. All of my hard work for nothing. My next Genre I decided to do was a poem. The only problem with this was choosing exactly what to express in a poem. I finally decided what to do for a poem. I wrote the poem, and the words just flowed as I went. I knew at that point what I had to do for my Personal Narrative. I know my poem is good, I am just hoping that I  do not have to share for the reasons it is a Personal Narrative, PERSONAL! The things I expressed in my poem are not things I want the world to know. I felt uncomfortable expressing those things to my teacher. But I knew I had to do something if I wanted to receive a good grade. Hope he likes it and whoever else comes across it.

Research Project?

The topic I chose for my Research project was rape. I chose this topic because I wanted to choose a topic that was sensitive and not a lot of people would talk about. I also chose this topic because if I had to do a Research Assignment, might as well make it an interesting topic that I would enjoy looking up information for in a non-creepy way.

I don't really like Research Projects because they take a lot of effort, a little more effort that I like to put into assignments. Also, when I'm writing papers,  don't necessarily care giving a word count. Hopefully this research project is a success for me, and I enjoy doing it. If you enjoy doing something, it is said that there is no reason that you should not do good at it. So, I'm going to put all my effort into this project, so I can receive a good grade. It will be hard, but I will try.

Personal Crisis

A time when I had a personal crisis? Whether I turned out the bad person or the good person? Hmm.. 

I remember this one time when I had two friends. These two friends liked each other, but I did not want them to talk because the other friends & I thought it would mess up everyone's friendship. I tried to convince them of this reason, but in the same token a person is going to do what they want to do. They began talking, coming closer everyday, at this point we knew it was no stoping them. When they decide they were going to be together, we gave them one rule "DO NOT PUT US IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP ISSUES". But of course, since we are all friends, we would be in the middle of. So the rule itself, was a good rule but a pointless rule. Every time they were mad at each other they came to us for advice, putting us in the middle. We tried to help as much as we could without having to pick sides. I knew more detail than anyone else, so they would confide more in me. Sometimes they would tell me stuff, that I thought each other should know and not me. So, I was often stuck in the middle, making me the BAD PERSON because I wasn't able to tell that person and the GOOD PERSON for being a good friend to confide in. At a point, I told them to stop confiding in me and to talk it out among themselves, that I should not be the third person in your relationship, and I should not be the means of your communication. I say the means of their communication because every one of them would say something to me, the other one would say what did he/she say. They decides this was best, stopped telling me everything that happened in between them, and worked on their communication!

Dedication to 01/31/12 Class

My feelings about the library visit? I did not like it AT ALL. I feel like it was a waste of class time. We could have took that class time to find out other things. Some of the things she stated doing her lecture were helpful. She was also all of the place with things. One moment, she is talking about history. The next moment, she was speaking of how to use the Library Catalog online. It was very hard to follow. The things she did cover, she could have did it more in depth, rather than going on a tangent every 5 minutes. I felt like I was in history class, three-fourths of the time. I also didn't like that she didn't give the correct reason on why we shouldn't use Wikipedia. I was told that I was not advised to use it because it was a possibility that some things could be changed. The librarian said don't use because it was political arguments on some of the things said. Those are two complete different reasons. Overall, I DID NOT LIKE THIS CLASS TODAY!

Obituary Announcement

Miss Lauren Nicole Ross died of hunger September 28th, 2099. She was 106 years old. One of the oldest woman to live around this time. She sadly died on her birthday. She is leaving behind two children, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She accomplished the greatest goal known to life. She was able to see 5 generations of her family born and live. She was a college graduate, with a PH.D. She was a Public Relations Specialist for all of the celebrities, biggest companies on the earth, as well some important TV shows. She owned her own Public Relations Specialist Company, known as L Ross N. She is able to die in peace knowing that all generations of her family can live comfortably of her wealth.

Lauren Nicole Ross's last word to her family and friends:

I want to thank all of my friends and family members for here at this moment. I want to thank you all for being there from the goodness of your heart and not to use me. I don't know when i will leave this world, but I know when I do, my spirits and teachings will carry on.  When I do depart from this earth, don't cry. God, spoke to me and told me it was my time to go. Understand this. I love you all, be safe. I will keep my eyes on you from above.

01/17/2012 Class Story

Blankieeeeeeeee? That is me, me who has been there from day one. I started in Mone's arms (Lauren's older sister) and ended up in Lauren's arms. I started in Lauren's arms 09/28/1993. From that day on, I knew that she my true owner. Some ask why is she so special to me.. I respond the same way every time, "I have been there through all of her accomplishments, failures, heartbreaks, the times she loved, times she lost, times she failed, times she has succeed, I watched her grow up, how can she not be special to me?" We have been through it all together for 18 going on 19 years. She comes in the dorm or where ever I am and says "Where is Blankie?" She freaks out when I can't be found. She knows that I have been there to see all the people come in and out of her life. Who can compare to me? NO ONE. I know this for a fact. I know all of Lauren secrets, secrets that the world will never know. She needs me, so of course I am important to her. Some might think it is crazy for a grown ass woman to have a baby blanket, BUT WHO CARES? If you had me in your life, you wouldn't want to let me go either. I seen everything there is to see, I have heard everything that is needed to be heard about Lauren. I could write a novel about that woman. I know for a fact I will not get passed down whenever Lauren has children, she is to stingy when it comes to me. That is good though, because at least I will always know that I have a place in Lauren's life, and in Lauren's heart. As long as I have that, I am okay. I have been waiting for an opportunity to tell my story on why Lauren is important to me. I thank you for this chance to show my voice. I am pale green and white, so if you ever see me, say hello. My name is Blankie, with an "ie" not an "y"! That is irrelevant because we will NEVER meet, but at least you will have some clue of who I am.

Thursday, 01/12/2012 Class

This class period was interesting. It was different from the typical English classes of grammar, reading, reviewing, writing. You know, the typical things you expect in English. I liked how we heard the story and watched a story. They were interesting at that! That was a good, class period!
